Accountability...

How disgraceful... it's been laying against my shop fence for going on four years now and people (my employees) are starting to make fun of me.  I bought it back in 2000 for $700 and knew it would be a journey getting it in "road worthy" shape.  As it turns out, the jeep was driveable when I bought it and now... well, you can see how driveable it is!  Since the beginning of the tear-down its been over 8 years, I've had two jobs, and I've lived in three different houses.  Lord only knows if all of the parts made it through the moves! I guess I'll find out in the coming months (or years!)  I wish I had some pictures of what it looked like when I got it.  Maybe I'll find some and scan them in so that I can post them.  Anyways, about the Jeep.  It's a 1974 CJ-5.  It's got a 304 c.i. V-8 (another post all together!) and a 3-speed transmission.  Plenty of power for such a light vehicle.  In the days after the purchase, I took it around my neighborhood a little and it was quickly obvious that there is some serios power and torque in it.  I can't wait until it's done!

Since the purchase, I've had three kids.  Two girls and a boy.  Right now they are 7, 4 (almost 5!) and 2 1/2.  My seven-year-old has been on me for a couple years to start working on the Jeep and, now that we are done having kids, I am hopeful that this winter will mark the end of tinkering and the beginning of some serious rebuilding!!
It is entirely possible that only one person (me) will follow this blog, or there may be many! Either way, it will serve as my Journal and photo album for a project that could easily go either way!  Feeling the need to update the blog will possibly be what I need to stay on task.  It may just serve to hold me accountable for my rambling thoughts and plans.

Stay tuned....
